Title:Graphene and its applications in Energy Storage

Speaker:Prof. SHEN Ze Xiang(申泽骧)

Nanyang Technological University

Time:June 4, 2019 (Tuesday) 14:00 PM

Venue:Conference Room on 9th Floor, Tang Aoqing Building, Central Campus

Abstract:

Graphene is the hottest topic for research and applications in the last 15 years. Graphene consists of a single layer of graphene arranged in hexagonal lattice. Graphene has many outstanding (and often unique) mechanical, electrical, thermal and chemical properties which make it a great candidate for applications in nanoelectronics, chemistry, sensing, catalysis, as well as energy storage and environment. In this presentation, I will focus on applications of graphene on electric energy storage, especially for Li ion batteries and super capacitors and show how it can improve the charging speed, energy density, safety and life time, which combine very well with AI, drones, electric vehicles as well as consumer products. The major collaborators of the projects are Johnson Matthey (UK), Elbit (Israel), Thales (France), as well as EDB (Singapore) and Moscow State University and Russian Academy of Sciences (Russia).
