Abstract:I introduce the basics of the functional renormalization group. First, the basic notion of Wilsonian renormalization group is explained. Then, the functional renormalization group equations in quantum field theory are derived. Those equations are applied for a simple scalar theory in 3 and 4 dimensional spacetimes and we discuss physical meanings.

Brief Bio:Prof.Yamada got Ph.D.in the Kanazawa University, Japan, in 2016, then worked as a postdoc at the Kyoto University, Japan (2016),and the Heidelberg University, Germany (2016 - 2022). He is currently joining in Jilin University as a new faculty member. Prof. Yamada's research interest is in the nonperturbative approaches to quantum field theories such as the functional renormalization group, and its applications to cosmology, phenomenology beyond the standard model, quantum gravity, and also condensed matter systems, etc.
