Venue:333 Lecture Hall, Physics Building

Abstract:

I will discuss an SYK-like model in 1+1 dimension. Higher-spin symmetries emerge in special limits of this model, where the model stops being chaotic. Our analysis demonstrates a clear connection between this model and some higher-spin theories, and suggests that this model might be considered as a toy model to study some appropriate tensionless limit of String theory.

Brief Bio:

Dr. Peng graduated from Peking University in 2008, and received his Ph.D. from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2013. He became a postdoc researcher at ETH Zurich before joining Brown University. His research interest lies in quantum field theory and quantum gravity in the framework of holography.
