Abstract:
Acoustic source localization (ASL) in a structure without knowing its material properties is a challenging task. Recent research advances on this topic will be discussed in this presentation. Acoustic source localization in both isotropic and anisotropic plates will be covered.
Only very recently acoustic source localization in a highly anisotropic plate without knowing its material properties has been addressed. The basic assumption in many of the earlier techniques is that the wave propagates along a straight line from the source to the receiving sensor. However, waves in anisotropic solids propagate along curved lines and form non-circular wave fronts. As a result, for highly anisotropic solids the acoustic source localization techniques that assume straight line propagation of waves from the source to the receiver are bound to give error.
In this presentation earlier techniques as well as a new development for acoustic source localization in an anisotropic plate will be discussed. The new technique analyzes the non-circular shapes of the wave fronts. Two common wave front shapes in a highly anisotropic plate, rhombus and ellipse, have been analyzed so far. Following this analysis, the acoustic source can be successfully localized without knowing the material properties of the plate.

昆杜,博士,1983年毕业于美国加州大学洛杉矶分校,亚利桑那大学任教,1994年晋升终身教授。在超声技术和电磁技术进行材料的无损检测和结构监测,声显微技术,多层介质中弹性波传播,断裂力学,计算力学,数值模拟等基础和应用研究方面都做出过重要贡献。2003年获洪堡研究奖。撰写2部教材,5部研究专著,学术期刊论文150余篇,被引三千余次。美国声学学会,美国无损检验学会,美国机械工程师学会,美国土木工程师学会等学会会士。声学领域著名杂志JASA和Ultrasonics等杂志副主编,国际光学与光子学会无损检测终身成就奖,美国无损检测学会持续研究卓越奖。日本东京大学,瑞士联邦理工学院,德国法兰克福大学,法国波尔多大学,瑞典查尔姆斯理工大学,俄罗斯科学院,日本东京工业大学,丹麦奥胡斯大学医学院,法国贡比涅技术大学,韩国高等科技研究所等研究单位的客座教授。
